Systems

Types of air conditioning we install

The right system depends on the space, how it’s used and how visible you want the equipment to be. We’ll talk you through the options at the survey.

Wall-mounted split systems

The most popular choice for homes and small offices. An indoor unit high on the wall connects to a compact outdoor unit. Quiet, efficient and quick to install.

Multi-split systems

One outdoor unit running two or more indoor units, so you can cool several rooms with a single unit on the outside wall.

Ceiling cassettes

Recessed into a suspended ceiling and spreading air in four directions. Ideal for offices, shops and open-plan spaces.

Ducted systems

Hidden in the ceiling void with only discreet grilles on show. The tidiest option for new builds, refurbishments and premium interiors.

Floor-standing consoles

Low-level units for rooms where wall space is limited, such as loft conversions with sloping ceilings and conservatories.

Cool and warm, one system

Air conditioning that heats as well as cools

Modern split air conditioning works as an air-to-air heat pump. In summer it moves heat out of the room; in winter it reverses and moves heat in from the outside air.

Because it moves heat rather than making it, a well-installed system can deliver several units of heat for every unit of electricity it uses. That makes it an efficient way to heat bedrooms, offices and extensions.

Summer

Cooling and dehumidifying for comfortable rooms and better sleep.

Winter

Efficient heating from the same indoor unit.

Questions

Choosing air conditioning

What size air conditioning unit do I need?

It depends on the size of the room, how many windows face the sun, the insulation and what the room is used for. We work it out properly at the survey rather than guessing. An undersized unit struggles to keep up, and an oversized one wastes energy.

Is air conditioning expensive to run?

Modern inverter systems are efficient and only work as hard as they need to. Running costs depend on your energy tariff and how much you use the system, and we’re happy to talk through what to expect for your rooms.

Which brand of air conditioning is best?

We’ll recommend a reliable system from a reputable manufacturer that suits your rooms and budget, and explain the options in your quote.

Can I use air conditioning instead of central heating?

For individual rooms, often yes. Air-to-air systems heat efficiently and quickly, so many people use them to heat bedrooms, home offices and extensions. We can advise on whether it suits your home.

Not sure which system you need?

Tell us about the space and send a few photos. We’ll recommend the right option and give you a clear quote.
